Charles-Édouard Gil in his studio, pulling a rock-and-roll sign between two sets

Charles-Édouard Gil composes with light. He builds an image the way one writes a score — light first, then gesture, then silence. A youth spent in the Caribbean left him with a taste for saturated light and the precise shadows it throws; that tension runs through his fashion, fine-jewellery and beauty work, and through the personal series he pursues alongside it.

Behind the eye stands his own production house: casting, styling, set building, lighting and post-production brought together under one roof, scaled from an intimate still life to a multi-look campaign on location — based in France, working wherever the image asks to be made.
